    For the past few months, I have been using AVAST as my XP antivirus, but it has always caused my computer to hang for a few seconds during startup, and for some reason, it won't display the sound and battery icons. Once I removed AVAST, this problem was alleviated and I installed IOBIT Malware Fighter as a replacement. After some research, I found that this antivirus wasn't actually very good thus I am looking for another replacement. Any suggestions? Here are my Criteria:

    • Latest version must still support XP
    • Can't be AVG or AVAST
    • Must have LIVE PROTECTION (meaning that I don't have to open the app/run a scan in order to root out malware. This should be automatic!)
    Thank you all in advance.

    I've been using Malwarebytes for ages and Rogue Killer (portable) for on demand scanning. Thus far, going strong.

    IMHO, its a scam, or worse, a conspiracy! ALL these antivirus peddling companys *NEED* virii, trojans, malware, etc etc to remain viable. Its where the money is, , , , ,

    Absolutely!! Same with law enforcement. In order to justify their leeching our tax money they need to inflate crime statistics 90% and create "events" like "School Shootings" which has NEVER happened in the USA. So many industries/governments need to create the problem to justify the solution...

    In most other forums I visit, talking cops, shootings, government, and such, posts end up getting sooo acrimonious that usually a moderator ends up shutting it down and/or locking a thread to further comment.

    This is the last, good, BEST!, XP site in the ether, I/we dont want to lose it, , , ,

    hello Samir .. :)
    .. check it out on:: https://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=24864
    .. I use the free one with license :: vscl-w32-613-l.zip ( 07-Aug-2015)
    .. it can continue to use the new DATs-package:: AVV-DATnnnn.zip

    I like this because it is light and fast like Avira-cmd scancl.exe

    360 total security is nice, its 32 bit compatible, they have a built in software firewall (on their premium version) and its really easy to use. You can use my referral and get a free month of premium to try here (the link is long)

    i havent had good luck with comodo free firewall, it crashes every time I try to launch it :mad:
