My copy of WindowsXP tablet edition is in English but some things are in Russian.

Let me start out by saying I installed a version of winxp tablet pc from the internet. I have bought a real edition of it on eBay but that takes a month from where I’m at so I decided to go ahead and install a downloaded version that didn’t need activation. But the windows diary is in Russian and whenever I install new programs it starts in Russian even though the rest of the laptop is United States English. I went to regional settings And got rid of Russian but the problem still continues.

there are a lot of internet sites to download xp, but most of them are hacked copies I would trust the downloads from the sites I listed, but would still scan them once downloaded.

download an english version and reinstall, that would be best.

Create the Activation Status

Navigate to system32 folder.

Copy the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files

Reinstall XP in the normal manner

Restart the computer and use the F8 key to bring up the Advanced Boot Options

Select Minimal Safe Mode using Up and Down Arrow Keys and press Enter.

Navigate to system32 folder.

Rename the existing wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files.

Copy the previously backed up wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files to the system32 folder.

Reboot the computer.

then once installed, if it asks for activation, choose over internet, and within a few seconds it will come back saying it is activated. NOTE: I do not go online until I have completed all my program installs and updates with portup, then the first thing is go to microsoft updates from the link in the start menu, get updated and then do the activation.

Okay so I’m finished installing win xo tablet pc edition now, it can with two disks. But for some reason it’s not asking for the second disk and when I put it in it just has two folders. One is components and the other is a readme file that only says this is for tablet edition or media center

I have never used the tablet edition, when you download is it in .iso form, it should be and then you need to burn it to a cd or a usb if your tablet support booting from a usb flash drive.

So I’m guessing that wpa.dbl is from a working version of windows xp but this is the only one I have

the wpa.dbl should be from the same system that you will be reinstalling, it will not work for just any install.

if you install the same os to the same device, then the wpa.dbl that came from that will be the same one that you will use for the reinstall, for example mine would not work for your tablet.

There should be an *.ini file with that cab, right click the ini (if any) and press install.

=============

you might have to extract it to get to that file

No ini files that I can see

Ca_, cab, cf_, ch_, dl_, ex_, gi_, ht_, in_, xm_,
