xp gui mode and xp gui in general questions

Hello XP Forum members,
i am interested customizing the look of XPs GUI mode (i know a little bit about replacing XP GUI mode system files...but i am no NT Coder!!) but would like to know more about customizing the GUI of XP pro;moreover i am interested in knowing where the XP "Create a Shortcut dialogue box background "BMP" is located (in what XP system file exactly...shell32 dll??) for creating a desktop shortcut.

any helpful replies greatly appreciated!

I don´t know how much customizing are you looking for, but there was a uxtheme patch that would let you use custom visual styles that you could download from sites like deviantart. And there was also older versions of window blinds

I never got around to trying it but you can get UXTheme Multi-Patcher 15.0 for Windows here:

I'm not much of a GUI customization guy. I slim down XP GUI as much as possible. One trick I like is to use the old WinME recycle bins on my (blank blue Classic ) desktop. I also use ThrobOff (attached here).

I also customize sounds. Here's a nice win 7 sounds for XP pack:

Clippybeer found the link for the rare 3DwindowsXP.exe Screen Saver

I find it won't "Stick" on my systems but that could be due to my particular tweaks.

I use bootskin_free v.1.05 by stardock

Here's an interesting site as well:
