    Hi all

It is well known that Windows XP's Disk Management (or FDISK) create Partitions that are not 4K Aligned.

Can you please recommend me a good program that can create 4K aligned partitions?

Preferably a Portable one, that does not require installation,
    if exists..

    Thank you very much

AOMEI Partition Assistant unfortunately is not portable..

Windows 7's Install Disk is a nice and portable way,
    thank you for that,
    I will use this.

If you or anyone else also know a program that runs inside Windows XP (and that created 4K Aligned partitions),
it will be nice to know and use it.

    Thank you very much

You should still keep Aomei Partition Assistant installer as backup somewhere like a flasdrive as it might be one of the last programs that is XP compatible.

I just downloaded and extracted Aomei Partition Assistant with uniextract to see if I could run it uninstalled and got:
    Aomei Partition Assistant.JPG
So I looked it up in the manual (pg 42): "4.12 Create Portable Version..."
I'm uploading the pdf here (see below) A few simple hoops but looks like what you could use Sppaceman5.

    Wow this is cool.
    Thank you very much TMTGTR.

I must say that what you did is impressive.
(trying to make portable a program that was not advertised as such,
then finding more info about it)

We all never bother to read the manuals..
Except when we have a specific problem or need..

It seems the free version can't be portable. Says in the manual:
    Note:
This function only available in the Unlimited and Technician editions of AOMEI
    Partition Assistant.

    Damn :)
Well, AOMEI's bootable flash drive contains the Partition Assistant program too.

40$/Year, for a utility that I use once in 5 years?
Thanks, but I'll take the Windows7 option instead..

I'm with you there. Most things now are a subscription. Welcome to the new world order where you won't own anything but you will be happy . :D

    One trends is towards subscriptions,
where another trend is towards Freeware..

There are probably various freeware options for a Partitioning program..

Well the windows 7 install disk is free hehe

Joking aside. There was a hirens bootcd. But I don't know if the partition software there creates the 4k type.

At the risk of again putting out incomplete info, i believe Hiren boot cd will work. it has mini-tools Partition magic 7 or 8. I use it and I think it can make 4k clusters. I never used 4k.
That said, I believe there are other partition apps as well...
Hiren's Boot CD is the best utility i have. Saved my bacon many times.
There is also an updated version for today's 'puters but I haven't used it yet.

    One note:
I am not talking about 4K Clusters,
I am talking about 4K Aligned Partitioning..
That's what you need on SSDs (or on Flash in general, e.g. USB Flash Drive, microSD/SD cards, etc),
or else, every cluster that is written, has to be written twice, which is slower and wears your storage device.

I have used GParted in the past - it works with NTFS, FAT16/32, ExFAT etc. It's freeware and has a bootable ISO you can download.
    https://gparted.org/

I haven't tried it with SSD as I now use Aomei but you could ask in their forums if it will do 4K Aligned Partitioning.
