    Hello,

I'm using Mypal as web browser and when I type a search in the address bar the Google search results are displayed in English!
How to have them in French?

    Thank you.

Even if you change the language to French in Google. If the original web page is in English, you won’t see the search results in French.

Try this simple experiment to understand how to get search results in French.

Set your language to French in Settings once on Google.

    Then type

    “Best restaurants in Brittany”

You will get half in French and half in English

    Then type in

    “Meilleurs restaurants de Bretagne”

You will find all your results in French.

You see it is a simple case of – You get back what you give.

    Hope this helps.

Darn – I am really sorry. I thought Mypal would carry over the functionality of Mozilla Firefox, which in reality is what it is based on.

I use 52.9.0 (32bit) Firefox, because I simply don’t have any problems accessing websites, so far with it. This is the version that underpins the actual functionality of MyPal. So I never saw the point of installing Mypal.

Aren’t you able to have both Firefox and Mypal on your system?

There are some people on this site that seem to love Mypal, so hopefully they will be able to help.

    Hi 37286495

All I can think of to help is that there is a MyPal thread and the guy that has good expertise on this browser - is a chap called flavallee.

Also – although I am sure you have already checked. There is a new release (8 Days old) of MyPal which appears to have fixed a search engine link.

    https://github.com/Feodor2/Mypal/releases

Sorry couldn’t be more help, as I have no experience of MyPal and also bizarrely I have no problem watching video’s on YouTube with my old version of Firefox – so far I haven’t come across a video I can’t watch.

There is only one site I have difficulty accessing with XP and Firefox, It’s a secure NHS site. But then I have a laptop that boots up over lan with a window 7 install - when I turn my workstation on, that I access through remote desktop connection. But I still use Firefox on that.

Hope someone is able to come up with a fix. You are probably on the right forum to get help it’s just a question of the right person seeing your thread.

    Hi

The thread is below. It is quite extensive. Although flavallee didn’t start it, he appears very knowledgeable.

    Hope you manage to resolve.

What sites are you visiting that have flash videos? You don't need flash player installed anymore because all video websites now use HTML5.

    Any video from jeuxvideo.com
    https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2020/40/4/1601547995-vvbfh.png
In addition to videos in HTML 5 format on Youtube.

This is why I am using Mypal instead of Firefox.

Upon closer inspection I have determined that it's not Flash Player, but rather JWPlayer that is used for many of the videos on that site.

    https://www.jwplayer.com/

It's used by a large number of sites and is HTML5, no Flashplayer or other plugin required. It appears that some extenstion(s) will prevent JWPlayer videos from playing. I have Firefox 52.0 and after disabling all my extensions was able to play the video, Flash Player is disabled.

I received an error similar to yours in MyPal when I enabled UBlock Origin and tried to play that video

You don't need Flash Player anymore, I don't have it installed on any of my other Windows PCs and can play any video on the Web. Youtube is now all HTML5.

The only reason to keep flash player installed is if you are a big fan of Flash Player games still found on older websites. Anyone want to play DOOM in their web browser?

I thought the problem came from the adobe flash plugin because before launching the video firefox asks to othorize the plugin even if it is obsolete.
The videos worked by activating it but no longer after the switch to 4k.

I will not risk deactivating all the extensions and plugins at the risk of not being able to reactivate them following their obsolescence.

Regarding the language change, I managed to put the following link in place of the English version of google from the search engine list manager:
    GET https://www.google.fr/search?q= NationaalsearchTerms}
    UTF-8

The only problem that remains is that the spell checker is set by default to the English language and even when choosing the French language (right click on the word to correct > Languages > French) the changes are not saved after the restart the browser!

Yea I avoid websites that make me disable my extensions to view content. It's better to just search for a different website that has the same video (probably Youtube).
