Sure it would (at least a little), aero increases the work it has to do. System Restore is also a big one, Superfetch, somewhere on the internet there's lists of the most active built-in vista and 7 services. Have you tried the Windows Classic display theme to make it look like win2000? It's beautiful to old folk like us that appreciate simplicity.

Another area you could target is switching to SSD (or cheap Flash) to eliminate the spinning hard drive power requirement. Or just carry an extra battery pack like smartphone users.

Lol ... I didn't catch that when I posted it yesterday.

I was having trouble with my computer so I called my 14 year-old son to help me, he clicked a couple of buttons and fixed it. As he was walking back to his room I asked him what the problem was. He said
it was an "IDtenT issue." Not wanting to sound stupid but curious in case I had the same problem again, I asked him what an IDtenT was. "Write it down" he said, so I did.
ID10T......... he never was my favorite child anyway.
