Drivers for Dell Inspiron laptop running XP with SP3

I have an old Dell Inspiron laptop that I am trying to resuscitate. I've done it once before but it fell over eventually. I seem to have mislaid the original installation disk but I have one that works. I have actually got the laptop to work but get the following errors in Device Manager :

Could anyone tell me what drivers I need for the laptop please ? The Dell site doesn't recognise my Service Tag and so I can't get the information from there. I have a bunch of drivers that I installed last time and I have installed them but I got an error message when trying to install R155386.exe and I think that may be the reason why I have those two errors shown above. I did read that drivers need to be installed in the correct order and almost certainly I didn't do that. Or is it just that the chipset driver needs to be installed first. Just to recap, the laptop boots up and seems to work O.K. but I wonder why those errors are showing. Thanks in advance for any help that anyone can give me.

What laptop model

computer semi-expert, the graphics driver is the basic driver for windows, (a vga driver) OP still needs the video driver for the inspiron

scraperman, need the model number as windowsXPforever asked

for example, I have a dell dimension 3000
so for yours it would be dell Inspiron ?????

even if your service tag is not recognized you can still get the drivers for the inspiron ???? just not the ones specific to your machine you will have to choose between several, but you will find the driver, if not let us know and we can look at the dell site for you also the pci/ven would be useful info, in device manager, Under the Properties window click on Details tab and select Device Instance Id , look at the below example

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27DC&SUBSYS_30868086
&REV_01\4&1E46F438&0&40F0

I need the one for the network and video

The error would seem to suggest that your network and graphics don't work. However, your graphics obviously work. If your network (i.e. Internet) works I wouldn't worry about it.
It's the wi-fi connection to my router that I can't get to work. It isn't necessary that it does work because the laptop is only going to be used for showing photos. to friends & family when they arrive and being a laptop it's portable (I'm a desktop user really) But I had the laptop connected to the router before. Would the MAC address have changed when I re-installed ? I also have a Norton licence for it and so although XP isn't that secure nowadays it isn't the end of the World if it gets attacked. Could I ask something else please ? Supposing I do attach the laptop to the router is it making the rest of my devices that are attached to it vulnerable, even though I would set up the Norton again ?

Yes, I have seen all the rest of the drivers but there are so many to choose from and I don't know which one I need. I will get the info. you asked for later this morning. Thank you.

Finally found the Device Instance id (I hope !) It can be seen that the battery is showing as an unknown device. That's because I kept getting lots of error messages on boot up, presumably because the laptop doesn't like the non-original battery and so I "disabled" it and it still seems to work.
Unfortunately I can't expand the window that shows the pci/ven for some reason and so it doesn't quite show it all and so it is : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27228086&REV_05\4&2FA23535&0&18F0
Hope I've done all this correctly. IMG_8091(Small).jpg

Just want to say a big thank you to everyone for all the help that I am receiving. This is the 2nd Forum that I have joined to try and get some help and on the other one all I got was responses from 1 person and they were most unhelpful. Thank you. :)

NSS is the first driver to be installed and then the chipset, it does not matter if you have already installed the drivers, do it again in the proper order and say yes to overwrite or reinstall messages.

Thank you for that Elizabeth23 but I am confused a little by parts of your reply.

and could you tell me what NSS is please if it is the first driver that should be installed ?

I installed the following drivers recently by just placing them on a USB memory stick and then putting it into the laptop and double clicking on the files, one at a time and they seemed to install O.K.

R85255.exe
R89598_5K9CG_SETUP_ZPE.exe
R104087.exe
R128346.exe
R99254.exe
R130907.exe
R114079.exe. I think this is the chipset driver. Is that correct ? n.b. I do have a file in the list that I installed before named R11079(1).exe but it might be an identical file. It is the same size as R114079.and the Dell Signature in the file Properties tab has the same date in each file (23rd June 2006)

I do have R155386.EXE but it wouldn't extract last time I tried it. Might that be because I didn't install the other drivers in the correct order ?

Apologies for my ignorance but I do feel that we are getting somewhere now. Would it help if I PM'd you the Service Tag and the Express Service Code. The Dell site advised not to make that information public.

Not sure what is happening. Last post by Elizabeth23 seems to have vanished !
I thought that it was my post that was awaiting Moderator approval. I just don't understand what is going on. Your post was there for all to see when I was answering it but as soon as I posted my #10 post it disappeared.

This is becoming ridiculous ! Every time someone tries to help me their post disappears as soon as I post my reply. Can the Mods tell me what is happening please ?

There was a typo in this when I posted it before:

"R114079.exe. I think this is the chipset driver. Is that correct ? n.b. I do have a file in the list that I installed before named R114079(1).exe but it might be an identical file.
