Building fast xp64 rigs for gaming

I would like to hear about some of your fast gaming builds. I am getting back into xp64 and any help / ideals / advice would be very welcomed.

Also if anyone has a favorite browser I would like to know about that also. I haven't found one I like yet.

I also have an HP DL385P with dual 16 core opterons and 128gb of ram. I just added an m.2 adapter and a 128gb ssd. Before I put the server os back on I want to try and get xp64 up and running on it just for fun.

I didn't get a chance to try xp on the server yet. I was setting up mining rigs and doing some repairs for customers most of the weekend.

The i7-970 was launched in 2010. IMO anyone looking to build an XP beast should get the last CPU gen that fully supported Windows XP. That is the 3rd gen Core iX-3xxx series. Have a search on eBay for the system board LGA 1155 that supports this CPU architecture. Can find a few that are brand new but no retail packaging. It's amazing can still get such new mobos years after XP went off extended support!

I am aware. I just picked up that entire system for $75.00. Just like to see what u can get xp to run on.

I just finished building an XP64 game rig. Using an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX Motherboard LGA2011
with AMD FX8130 Cpu and XFX R9-270X Graphics card works very well.

I have the Asrock 990fx fatality and a few others. I wouldn't mind adding a Sabertooth to the collection. They are nice motherboards.

I love XP64.
My specs were as follows:
System assembled in 2014
OS: XP 64, Windows 7 and Linux
Power Supply: Thermaltake TR2 800w
Motherboard: GA-970A-DS3P (rev. 2.x)
CPU: AMD FX 8320e @ 3.5Ghz
Video: Ati HD 4850 512MB GDDR3
Ram: 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz
HDD: 1TB WD 10,000 rpm and 640GB WD 7200rmp

Sadly the motherboard died. Waiting for a replacement to arrive. It's a shame XP 64 didn't get too much attention. It is the best OS Microsoft made. Microsoft themselves killed it by releasing Vista too soon.

You might be interested to know that the development of Windows Vista started with the Windows XP code base in around 2001. Unfortunately, after 2 years they gave up and switched over to developing Vista from the Windows Server 2003 code base. This set them behind and was the reason Windows Vista did not come out until 5 years after Windows XP. The Windows Server 2003's kernel was also used in Windows XP 64-bit.
