I've seen this before though, where I couldn't view a Mypal information page using Mypal. (same in 360Chrome this time).

If the profile parameter works, which profile to use? The new install of V.13.7b created 4 Profiles;
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\0np3l4gf.default-default
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\arc39gc6.default
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Local Settings\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\0np3l4gf.default-default
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Local Settings\Application Data\Mypal68\Profiles\arc39gc6.default

Hmmmm.... on the previous install of V.14 there are only 2 Profiles;
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Application Data\Mypal68.14\Profiles\ogd2xe4r.default-default
C:\Documents and Settings\Wolf\Local Settings\Application Data\Mypal68.14\Profiles\ogd2xe4r.default-default

Could the 2 missing "default" Profiles have something to do with sluggish performance issues on other programs while the browser is open?

It sounds like you're getting better performance on a fresh install, so I figure you'd create fresh profiles as well. Yeah Github has known bugs preventing Mypal from displaying the site properly, that's why I copied and pasted the content for everyone. I used Thorium122 on XP to load it, and it also works on Firefox115 in my Win7 VM.

I don't know why Gecko browsers create so many profiles so often, and with such long names; it's always annoyed me, but since it's buried under many parent folders I often peacefully forget about it :)

Mypal-78.0.1 (32 bit) is a fast browser that crashes a lot on my machine.

It's not a portable browser. Fresh install will create two "MyPal68" profile directories as usual in Docs&Settings. If you instead run it with existing "MyPal68" profile directories, they will be modified and become unusable for the previous version. Also, it did not automatically use a previous profile. I had to make the previous profile Default manually.

Even though my existing directories only had one Profile each, Mypal78 (about:profiles) gave me a choice of 4, only 2 of which actually had files listed. That's kinda weird.

Clicking on bookmarks seemed to open tabs and load pages much faster than previous versions, and when trying to comment on Disqus or Youtube pages I noticed that all pages now were implementing a spell checker where some had not in the past. This is where the problems started however. Going back to correct any misspellings always crashed the browser. Didn't matter if I double clicked on a word to bring up a dictionary, or moved the cursor to correct a wrong character.

I did visit a Mypal Github page, and as before couldn't see the whole page. Not sure how someone is supposed to report issues with a browser that doesn't even display the programmers web site.

Thanks for sharing! I'll be watching eagerly to see other users report their experiences, since I hope it's not a bad RAM stick, etc in your computer. I still consider my 68.12 plenty fast enough, so I'll stick with that for day-to-day usage.

I see there is now a "bugfix" V.78.0.2 available. With previous versions I've played with both the SSE & non-SSE versions, but I'm really not sure which one would be recommended for my machine.

WinXP Pro 32
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
4x 2 GB DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM

Even though my CPU specs say "support for SSE", I get the feeling SSE is intended for use with Intel CPU's?

I've been running the Non-SSE version of 78.0.2 since early this morning, and it hasn't crashed like its predecessor. The "spell check" issue seems to have been fixed. Time will tell if it's a keeper as I spend more time with it.

Something I've noticed about MyPal for a few versions now (which I don't think is really associated with the browser), is videos with audio being out of sync. (annoying when you're watching someones lips move). This varies by venue and seems to be worst on YouTube. On Rumble and Bitchute the sync issue is barely detectable if at all.

Another small annoyance is not being able to load any Pinterest pages for many months now, which does seem to be MyPal related since I can load them with 360Chrome and (Linux) FireFox 147. With MyPal, the page starts loading for a couple seconds, then crashes and spits out something like this:

Unexpected Application Error!

An invalid or illegal string was specified

Sometimes there will be 5 or 6 lines of "string", other times many more.

If someone can load a web site seemingly fine using 360Chrome, but the same site will not load using MyPal78, what are all the variables that can or need to be edited in the MyPal browser so it will open the page?

I find the best practice is to always backup profiles before doing any sort of upgrade, as well as create additional folders for new profiles and name them according to the version of firefox/mypal/etc. So, when switching from mypal versions, I copy MP28 and rename it to MP29.

Even went so far as to structure profiles on a different letter drive (i.e. V:\APPDATA\BROWSERS\PROFILES), and the same for Thunderbird (i.e. V:\APPDATA\THUNDERBIRD\PROFILES).

I have desktop icons load browsers with the -p switch on, to select profiles at startup. So when I'm running MP29, I make sure a MP29 profile is selected.

I've been doing the same with regard to renaming the program and profile directories, but I don't see the point in loading a renamed profile directory when calling any executable. From what I've witnessed thus far, every version of MyPal will access and update the profile(s) under "Mypal68" in the Doc's&Settings directories. If there is no "Mypal68" directory, it will be created as soon as the program is launched.

If you've been loading profiles other than those listed under the "Mypal68" directory, have you ever looked back to see which profile was actually altered after adding a bookmark or accepting cookies?

I have not. With Mypal 68 I had only used it for small things, such as management of certain devices with a web interface that like to throw fits over browser compatibility.

I have not used MyPal 68 (but have used 28 and 29) actively for internet browsing. I have been mainly using Thorium 122, as another here has. I will use other various browsers (i.e. new moon, palemoon, ff52esr) for different reasons.

I'm finding more so and more so, however, that more websites I use to browse just fine with older browsers are now using "Cloudflare" verification, which won't load in older browsers. Those websites will work fine in the browser, but not when they use Cloudflare.

I moved away from MyPal 29 a while ago electing to use RoyTam1's PaleMoon for everyday browsing and research.
https://rtfreesoft.blogspot.com/search/label/newmoon Which he updates about 3x/Month.

On the MyPal 68, 72, 74, I do/have use/used them but mostly for Ebay or Amazon or when palemoon is a no go. For the serious stuff I'm using Supermium Supermium 126.0.6478.261 R7 (final). But I have every final build released after that ready to go. Shane Fournier the author is very dedicated to XP compatibility (And he's a kid!). His Handle name is "Win32" https://win32subsystem.live/supermium/ & https://github.com/win32ss/supermium/releases
Always working, and is very responsive on the Github issues page.
Current build is Release 144.0.7559.247 R2
Supermium only let me down once. Couldn't view/download Needed pdfs from a site where it was never an issue before.
Fired up MyPal 74 and got the pdfs lickity split.
I'm staying with 126 until I have to go to 132.

Yes but I start it with the supplied Supermium (Ungoogled).cmd or Supermium (Classic Ungoogled).cmd
I'm using Supermium_126.0.6478.261 R7_setup.exe Which has not failed. Supermium is up to v144 development.
On the issue tracker I see very little for the XP builds. Most issues are for O/S's above XP.

Only issue I've had in past 15 months is I couldn't access pdfs in my account on a site for download (It had worked, but the website changed code somewhere). MyPal 74 had no problem.
I go to the most tight-assed sites requiring login/captcha/cloudflare without issue.

Thanks for that. Someone here had suggested I play with Supermium a while ago, but they themselves confessed to having problems with it, so I never pursued it. I installed the "mypal-78.0.2.en-US.win32.zip" a couple of weeks ago, and it's been doing very good for the majority of my browsing. I still have 360Chrome installed as well for those few sites that MyPal won't load properly, but I have always preferred the FF clones. I'm rarely opening 360Chrome with this latest version of MyPal.

On the linked page, I did D/L the "supermium_126_32_nonsetup.zip", which I assume is the "portable" version? I also grabbed the "supermium_32_syms.7z" file, and await someone to tell me why I D/L that file too. :b

I use the setup exe file myself. When I used it to upgrade v124 it was flawless. I do not know what the syms 7z file is. Source? I downloaded it once, looked at it and made a mental note I don't need it.

I prefer the FF clones myself. Glad to hear the MyPal78 is working. I'm on 74 until I need to jump. Same with supermium.
