Had my computer powered down for the weekend. Came home to start it and it won't get pass the window XP screen.
This is the window that shows the processing bar a little more than half way down screen.
I have restarted windows many time and it still won't load.

All I want to do is get it to start up so I can copy my "document" file.

Is there a way I can get windows to load?????

    have you tried safe mode??

restart (press crtl + alt + del to get task manager) or if you have to do a hard restart and when it restarts immediately start tapping F8 and choose safe mode, if you can get to this then you can copy any document.

you can also boot to a rescue disk either hiren's boot cd of puppy linux to get access to your harddrive, go into bios and set pc to boot from the cd drive first.

You may also want to run checkdisk:

    How to perform checkdisk

if you do not have Recovery Console installed, then run from the start menu

go to start, run, type in cmd

in cmd type in chkdsk c: /r and press enter

type Y for yes and press enter

    type exit and press enter

restart pc, allow checkdisk to finish and run again

this is a lengthy process depending on the size of your harddrive, the percentages will fluctuate, this is normal, you can view report in the event viewer.

go to start>run> and type in eventvwr.msc, click on the applications directory, and in the right hand panel choose winlogon.
