XP Sort options

i have recently noticed something weird with an XP desktop i am using at the moment. It does not sort folders by alphabetical order and file types at the same time.

Any1 knows what is the issue? Just a little note, this problem only happens to my desktop and not other desktops in the office running XP as well.

read and try above if not try the ones below:

==========================

Restore Sort order in Open and Save dialogs
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_opensaveorde...

Or...

To resolve this behavior, reset the default sort order:
1. Right-click Start, click Explore, and then click drive C.
2. On the View menu, click Details.
3. Click the Name column to sort items by name, press and hold down the CTRL
key, and then quit

Windows Explorer by clicking Close in the upper-right corner of the screen.
4. Release the CTRL key.
5. Restart your computer.

NOTE: You must perform these steps exactly as they are listed. For example,
do not quit Windows

Explorer by clicking Exit on the File menu.

From...
Items in "Open" and "Save As" Dialog Boxes Sorted Incorrectly
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q229070
=====================

Try this:

Open a folder, make the arrangements you want.

Click "Tools" / "Folder Options".

Click "View" / "Apply to All Folders".

A confirmation message should appear, click "Yes".

Click "OK" to exit.

Tried

hi there! thanks for the reply, i've tried these methods but it does not seem to work.
What i want is actually for xplorer to sort my files by type and alphabetical order at the same time.

Meaning, All file folders first(Name of folders from A-Z) followed by text documents(Name of Text docs from A-Z) as well

When i tried it my folders names go from Z-A and when i click it again it does not sort by any order

Hmmm, mine does this already all folders are a-z and inside of folders is a-z.

now my temp int file is z-a by choice, I can click on the column header and change back to a-z.

you might want to run some scans on your pc to check for malware:

Download, install, update and do full scan with these free malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes Free (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/

SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

Remove all found, reboot, and run again until scans run clean, these can be removed afterwards if you so choose. Run scans one at a time, please.

what is your current antivirus??

Hi, sorry for late reply. its a mcafee/norton i'm not so sure as the computer does not belong to me.

Seems now that the main problem is that all file types are able to be sorted except for folders type which doesn't seem to be sorted together.
