XP sfc /scannow

    Hello,

    I have a pc with xp. when i turn it on it allow chose go to bios, but after that the windows don not load, stand always with a total black screen.

    at sometimes it display the error "windows system32 system config missing or corrupt".


    i am doing boot from instalation cd, i choose repair and in console i try to do sfc /scannow, also using the syntaxe sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows, but i get the error that the command is not recognized

    someone can help?

    NOTE: if the cd is at sp2 and the pc is at sp3 then the repair might leave some files at the wrong serivice pack level.

    if you can get xp to boot afterwards copy your files and reinstall xp, that would be the best thing and also do a hard drive check with the tools suggested in the above thread.
