XP Random shutdown SOLVED!

    Hi,
    Thanks for all the info on this topic.
    The problem was a faulty power supply.
    The IT guy who helped me out with this says a lot of seemingly unrelated faults on PCs is often due to a failing power supply unit.
    Hope this can help anyone else with similar problem.

    After watching my room mate for a while, I am sure this is his problem,
    but I don't think its fixable.

    DEEGE congrats, its a good thing to put a shop vac hose on the vent ever 4 months to keep the heat storing dust out.

    Sadly the only permanent solution is a new PSU.
    I got a 500 watt unit from Scan for £14.99.
    Money well spent.
