XP Pro 64bit

I want to start playing some of my older games on a newly built desktop that were great on XP. However, when my old desktop OS was changed from XP to 7, I gave the XP away. I have been given a XP Pro 64bit disc. Will this play them well as the prior XP 32bit did? Windows 7 does not no matter what I have done recommended by MS.

thank you.

you have the disc but you cannot install xp 64 bit without a license for it, or product key, each product key is to a particular pc.

but yes, games from a 32bit will play on a 64 bit.

what you really should do is go to the games site and get the game compatible with win 7.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Yes the 64bit disc does have a valid product key.

Just out of curiosity, what was the purpose of XP 64bit then compared to today?

Thank you

You will need to go the the pc manufacturer and download xp drivers for the particular pc that you will be loading xp onto.

The installation disc of drivers for the MB for W-7 are also compatable for XP.

I'm using mobile racks to install each operating system on their own drive. I found years ago that this allows for the unexpected drive failure & other glitches from killing the use of the desktop by putting all your eggs in one basket.

Thanks for the help.

Unlike XP 32 bit XP 64 can use over 3 gb of ram. I am running an I7-2600, SSD drive + 8 gb of ram with no page file, minimum services and start up items.
Go to the manufacturer's web site and download the drivers if they are available.
You can also go the chip manufacturer's website and download drivers.
