XP machine and virtual server 2003

    Hi
    Looking for some advise. We have a system that is running on a Windows XP box with a SQL database and data stored on a virtualised Server 2003 box. We have no third party support but are required to keep running the software for now.

    I would really like to get the XP PC and server off the network asap.
    I am considering doing something like running the server virtulised on the XP box as long as I can reference the server in the same way, ie: \\hostname. This then becomes a complete stand alone solution without the need for networking.

    Any advise on doing this in practise.
