as a last resort find someone with the same os and same pc and make rescue disk from their pc and install on yours, all you would need is the product key then.

I can give you instructions to burn a Hiren's boot cd or flash drive, since the 7b stop code is a hardware error, and then you could hopefully boot into hiren's and see the xp install thru Hiren's desktop.

    do you want this?

Not sure what to do with your list of drivers.

There is no chance of me getting at another PC the same as this one. This one came form an office where they completely wiped it before I got it.

I have a Hiren boot flash and CD. That is what I was hopping I would be able to use to edit the list of drivers on the clone HD. Hiren does boot in mini xp mode. But I don't know how to get at the list of driver that are installing.

does the office still have other pcs of the same type, or do they even have install discs, which they would have needed in the beginning.

make sure the command prompt is at c:>

if it does not open at c:>

then type cd c:\ after the blinking cursor.

as a last, last resort you might take it to a shop. :)

if you find which drivers you need, I can help you search for them or upload them to my skydrive off of my pc.

During the text-mode phase of the setup process, Windows pauses briefly and prompts you to press F6. This option is displayed in the status line and lets you use an OEM mass storage controller driver. The F6 option is provided strictly as a means to install OEM drivers for mass storage controllers only. This is required to let the installation of the operating system continue. Microsoft does not support using F6 to install any device driver other than mass storage controller drivers.

did you read this on your stop error?

if Hiren's can see the installation you can get things off it, since I urge people to use Hiren's to get their data off a bad hdd with hiren's.

Or, you can run recovery console through hiren's with the /r parameter and run over and over until no errors are found.

I might be getting somewhere. I turned off ahci in bios and booted the clone drive. It appears to be booting although the USB keyboard and mouse are not working.
Rebooting again with normal ps2 devices.
    wierd thing.
Had to reboot with ahci on then reboot again with it off or it could not a boot device.

If you have any version of Windows XP recovery disk, you can start the PC using the recovery disk and then instead of installing the operating system select repair. If you have a floppy drive or USB thumb drive you can copy the following files from any XP machine: kbdclass.sys, mouclass.sys and i8042prt.sys. All of these files are found in the C:\windows\system32\drivers folder and after copying them to the removable media you need to copy them into the same folder on the damaged machine. I hope that this helps.

    above excerpted from this thread:

    http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/101-356357/how-to-restore-keyboard-and-mouse

for keyboard and mouse, I have these uploaded to my skydrive if you can use hiren's to install thru the recovery console:

driverquery works in my cmd prompt, if you are using recovery console it might not be recognized, type help for command listings

my skydrive, you might have to log in or register to download, it is free.

on installing drivers without keyboard, not solved but may help:
