As per usual you are correct... I think some using especially directory navigators or file managers that view ONLY Zips as folders but not RARs might find Zips a better choice as far as being globally useful rather than pure cranked-down filesize... There are some older image viewers as well that will read Zips as folders but not RARs...

Probably gonna test some others I have like UltimateZip, WinArchiver, PowerArchiver & more to see what features are within... WinArchiver has burning I know...

Being Zip was so popular 20+ years ago there were some clever uses thought up for the format that exist in old software we all like to use on our ancient egypt machines...

I can see how this is a very user-friendly alternative to a password-protected drive, since archives have no preset size limit, supporting direct picture viewing, and it's easy to move/backup a single zip file.

So there we have it... You sold yourself on it!... Yes, I was reviewing KO Approach & found that I had not checked in 'options' 'Treat Zip Files as Folders' OK now I can view Zip file contents several sub-folders deep without having to actually go in there physically-

KO pretty cool I install on all XPs... It works on left-clicking on a folder but you keep it held down a bit longer (you can adjust time of) then it engages will work to like 4 subfolders & as you see Zips are like folders (RARs-NO) also it will show a thumb of certain images if moused over & will also play/stop a WAV file...

At bottom of page I believe it will redirect, let it-

This is version before it went commercial...

Nice! I like using PicaView32 for right click image file previews and sound file plays, especially since it'll let you customize the size of the previews.
