WinXP hangs on boot at 'Windows' screen almost to Desktop...

    ...so I click Delete on reboot, and choose 'boot with optimum configuration' and it boots successfully to Desktop.

    Monitor(s) Displays Compaq P900
    Screen Resolution 1280x960
    Keyboard Compaq RT101
    Mouse Logitech M-U0007 laser
    Hard Drives 7400 rpm
    Antivirus Norton 360 Premium Edition, CryptoPrevent, MalwareBytes,
    Browser Firefox, Seamonkey, IE
    Other Info I use Gladios Utilities Pro to manage my ram.
