Will xp sp2 install over w7 starter

I just received my mums old netbook restored and everything but can't help but wonder what Microsoft were thinking when they made windows 7starter so I'd like to put xp on it and I have a valid disk and key but it is sp2 - will this work or should I expect errors? Also it's am acre aspire one if it helps ,Thanks for the help
 
you can only install the OS that originally came with the pc as the product key is tied to the computer.

the product key that goes with the xp disc is only good for the computer that had xp originally installed.
