usb wireless keyboard and mouse driver

cant seem to install above device, downloaded drivers from MS and it will not install. Am I doing something wrong?
can anyone advise me to what I need to do...

Are these drivers not already present in XP?

When I changed over from PS2 to USB M&KB, I did not need to download any drivers, and finding the devices in 'Device Manager' and electing to update drivers returned the notification that no better driver found than one in use!
