am not too knowledgeable about external drives but to my knowledge you need a usb connection, but you would do better to ask in the forum link provided above, and please include the make, model and model number of your pc, plus the make, model and model number of the external drive. Thanks.

Sometime ago before I even read this post, I googled hard and long and finally found a purchaseable item PCI USB 3.0 card (not PCI Express, just plain PCI) for sale from a different province very far away from my own, in my country. But I did not purchased it. I was turned off since USB 3.0 PCI or PCI Ex cards both will need to be connected to the power supply of the CPU. I just settled for the built-in USB 2.0 port. So perhaps there are also items for sale in your own country as well. Just use Google over and over just as I did before. Good luck.
