Two Download Managers Failing with XP

XP Pro_SP3

I assumed this was a frequent problem with XP, but I can't find much after performing
a few Google searches.

I've got Internet Download Manager (IDM) and FlashGet. About half of my downloads
are failing to start. Ironically, the failures are occurring with the simplest direct links,
like these for the XP compatible New Moon browser.

The big software and cloud storage sites use complex redirects before reaching the actual
download link. For some reason, IDM and FlashGet have no problems with redirects.

When a download fails to start with IDM a message box appears. (See attached image.)
After clicking "yes" this document is loaded into your browser:

I tried the fix. It doesn't work. Is there anything I can try that might resolve this problem?
I'm reluctant to try different download managers, but I will if that's the only possible solution.

This is a common problem i had on XP with IDM.

The obvious question is, how did you resolve this problem? Have you found download
managers that work with XP?

I use DownthemAll! 3.0.8 in New Moon/XP. That same link you posted that IDM had problems with downloaded easily using DTA.

Using MyPal 28.6.1: I installed Downloadthemall 3.0.8 and it ran, but all I could get was a screen full of 'https:' links with no video (MP4) files showing. Selecting any one would download an HTML file containing an error message, but I never figured out how to have it go after a video file.

Can you tell me what was I doing wrong?
