We have Xp Sp3 with all updates.

Recently we started to get Blue Screens. This may have been connected to either the upgrading of Norton Antivirus from 2012 to 2013 or possibly a Microsoft upgrade. With Norton's help we removed 2013 and re-installed Norton Antivirus 2012.We continued to get BlueScreens and Restore would not work.

We attempted a System Restore in SafeMode and the OS will not restore to any previous Restore points.

We get errors like these in the Event Viewer after a BlueScreen--
    Error code 10000050, parameter1 f8a8afa9, parameter2 00000000, parameter3 f8a8afa9, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 88be6e70, parameter3 a12eaba8, parameter4 00000000.

    Error code 00000024, parameter1 001902fe, parameter2 f78f5ef4, parameter3 f78f5bf0, parameter4 f74a21ad.

When we attempt to Restore and it fails we get errors like these--
The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000243' while processing the file 'EraserUtilDrv11220.sys' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume2'. It has stopped monitoring the volume.

The file 'EraserUtilDrv11220.sys' is a Norton file.

We have attempted to turn off as much of Norton Antivirus 2012 as possible and then run System Restore. Restore still fails and we still get errors though they no longer refer to Norton files.

We assume that the Registry is damaged but cannot prove it. We have heard that Registry cleaners may cause more problems then they solve.

We have run Chkdsk on all of the drives with the '/F' option for repair.

We have upgraded the video driver from Dell.

The BlueScreens usually occur while using Iexplorer 8 to view streaming video from Netflix which uses Silverlight.

Viewing the Minidumps in Windbg show only that ntoskrnl.exe has failed.

Can you suggest a course of action.

    Thanks.
