'System Restore' alternative?

    I am looking to replace 'System Restore' in XP Pro with something better. Was considering Norton GoBack, but then I ran across a mountain of complaints by XP users. Now I'm looking into Norton Ghost 15 and Acronis True Image, but suggestions of similar programs are welcomed. Basically I need something easy for a newbie to use. It must do a full backup (carbon copy, clone, bare metal, etc.), of everything on the disc. This backup will go to a mobile-rack type blank HDD of identical capacity (i.e. a backup of a 500GB hard disc will go to a blank 500GB disc) so no sort of compression is wanted. Any recommendations?
