    Hello all,

my old XP machine has been getting quite flaky, occasionally refusing to load my user profile. A restart usually worked, but last week things took a turn for the worse and I was faced with a factory-default environment. I managed to restore ntuser.dat and ntuser.ini from last month's backup, so I recovered my environment apart from a few recent changes.

My problem: my %USERPROFILE% is now C:\Documents and Settings\Charles.TINMAN.000 — not Charles which, as you can see, is the profile directory under which I worked all these years:

    Code:
    Charles 5/12/2014 14,362,998 KB
    Charles.TINMAN 6/1/2011 2,817 KB
    Charles.TINMAN.000 5/12/2014 175,403 KB

How can I tell Windows to use C:\Documents and Settings\Charles as my user profile when I log on, instead of Charles.TINMAN.000?
