Steam is crap

So this is a rant post:

Basically I haven't used steam for years. Because I can't log in to it. I lost access to the email that was used to open the account. But I do know the username and password for Steam. Then I type I want to change the email address. Then they send me an email to the new address, saying that they sent me a message. But to see the message I have to sign. So I can't see the stupid message. I tried this week to see if the problem was solved because I wanted to play a game with a friend. The problem still persist. This is why I don't support DRM in games. I only buy DRM free games and pirate the hell out of the game makers that only put their games in Steam. Sure I can't play online using a pirate version. But at least I don't have to deal the aggravation that is Steam. I despise it with a passion.

If you want to play CS 1.6 without Steam (as many people do), download from cswarzone.net. If you like privacy, they have torrent version available. Though I have to warn, I installed it and got malware two days later, not sure if interconnected though.

I wanted to play Marvel Snap with a friend. But online games can't be pirated. My issue with steam runs deep. I have a retail version of a game called Last Remnant. I had to pirate a game that I bought to be able to play it. -_-

Technically, you were getting back something that you had payed for, but the law isn't that smart.

The Fair Use clause of the DMCA does allow you to circumvent copy-protection for something you legally own. I would argue that applies for pirating his game that he owns:)

I was paranoid when Steam was advertising they would delete your account and ALL paid games if their "cheat detection" software decided you were cheating in Counter Strike Source. As such, I never used an existing account for purchasing games, always a new one. (I didn't cheat, but I did experiment, as renting a server allowed one such privileges)
This policy was easy since I only ever bought 2 Steam games, haha!

They would DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT for cheating in COUNTER STRIKE: SOURCE, a 30 year old game that most people nowadays pirate? Also coding cheats for the game can be just a simple script. Seems a bit harsh for a mostly singleplayer game

Oh, you could do anything in CSS single player, but only against bots so gameplay isn't nearly as immersive. Perhaps predecessor CS1.6 had an actual story-line?
This was advertised as Valve Anti-Cheat on multiplayer servers and turned on by default. It was a supposedly omniscient policeman, just like Cloudfare. *rolls eyes* I got to watch a trusted friend prove he could cheat with it on, without it noticing. It's probably like anti-virus, a cat and mouse game always playing catch-up.

One day I turned VAC off on our clan server that I paid for, with advance notice, and scores of players enjoyed experimenting without threat of bans.

There used to be massive Hacker vs Hacker (HvH) servers back in the day. Is your server one of them? If so, what is the IP (if I can join of course)?
