SATA drivers for a dell optiplex 5050

I'm trying to get sata drivers to install XP on a optiplex 5050 however I'm having no luck.

Chipset is a Q270.

Thanks in advance.

Drivers for XP do not exist for Dell OptiPlex 5050 Tower.

You could try drivers for Windows 7

However remember you will have to muck about in the bios and set the drive from AHCI to ATA/IDE mode.

Good luck. You will certainly need it.

Just go with windows 7, or 10. If for some esoteric reason you have to use XP on this Optiplex 5050. Buy a Sata card that has XP support, if you can get the motherboard to work. Same for graphics networking and sound. Alternatively try drivers for an older OptiPlex. Just seems a lot of hard work to be honest.

Windows 7 is the way to go. If you must use XP you can use it virtually. It's actually very snappy.
He/she would have to crack Windows 7 to effectively use it. If they are uncomfortable with that, something like a simple Linux distribution that then emulates Windows XP or even chainloading XP with GRUB could do. I use Windows XP as my main OS even though it is in a VM.
