Problems with Wireless connection

Hello all hey listen I have had continual problems with my uncles Windows Xp wireless connection. It goes off and then on. On my Laptop which is windows 8 Basic what happens is it shows the the two wire is having problems and actually takes me into the configuration window.

Umm I was trying to figure out if it is the wireless router on XP that is not working properly and it is avery slow connection, which is showing me that something is not configured right.

I would appreciate any help you can offer.
