Printer "offline"

I am still using XP on one of my computers. Suddenly, I cannot print because the Printer is "offline". How can I resolve this problem?

I had a epson cx5400 that did huge terrific scans
it went down and Epson wanted like 40 bucks just to talk about it on phone ,
it needed ink TOO

I told them "if you wanna sell ink
you'll help me fix the printer free, they fixed it free with a down load,
