Outcast - The Making Of>>>

Was on the fence about installing this game but after watching looks like go... Very advanced 3D looking for the time, dig all the CRT screens...

I can't stand these 'Old version of a Game' VS 'New version of a Game' comparisons... Games were much harder to create back then to run on the grim machines plus in the era of CD distribution they had to be solid & bug-free before leaving the shipping dock...

Nowadays you get a game it has to first update online for hours & that's if there's no interruption of connection...

The Critical Drinker pretty much nails it-

In the case of Outcast (1999), the sequel came out in 2024 so a 25 year spread... Now before anyone can say anything... 'If The New Version Cannot Run On The Original Version's System Requirements It Is NOT Better'... It is simply taking advantage of modern hog machines... The actual mystifying element is that the original version could run on very slim requirements on very grim machines...

Original Outcast SysReq-

Even the recommendeds seem not possible...

Now for Outcast - A New Beginning (2024)... Wait for it>>>

Good God!... What a frickin' PIG of a game!!... Now let's just take one element like RAM requirements OldvsNew the new needs 250+ times the RAM to run whether you are lookin' at min or recommended requirements...

So is the new version 250+ times BETTER than the original?... Not on your life, hell it can't even run on 10 year old hardware let alone 25 year old hardware...

And we are not even talking how much online patching must be done...

Take all these game developers & make them create games that work on 25+ year old hardware & they would probably just start bawling & quit their jobs... Too Tough to do that, "Can't be done" is what they'd say even though they did that very same thing 25 years ago...
