Old School Chat Programs (no server)

I think xp still has winchat enabled, but with my xp steadystate add-on, I think the necessary service is blocked/off.

I remember one called Wintalk and have that one (http://www.sharewarejunkies.com/8w3/wintalk.htm), but also ran across "UDP Win Chat 1.0" that looks like it would also be interesting to try.

The problem is that I can't seem to find the download anywhere. Seems like it was an awesome freeware program that ran on almost any version of windows and allowed a non-server, private lan chat system without backdoors, 'cloud' or any other nonsense. I checked wayback machine and other places, but can't seem to find an actual download:

have you tried old apps or try internet archive there are lots of old school cd there ,may take a while looking through gl

Yep, definitely did some searching in those places after I posted here without much luck. I've got almost the entire site download of cd.textfiles.com, but think this is older than those.

 

Looks similar, but I don't think it's the same thing as it requires an install and has a later version number.

 

UDP Win Chat 1.0" that looks like it would also be interesting to try.

The link you sent has a setup while I think the one I'm looking for was just a single exe.

No. A single exe is just a single exe that you download and run--no install, no other files.
