Nuisance icon in Task Bar

    How can I get rid of this Windows Messenger icon from my task bar, the one with the red cross on it. Please see attachment. I can right click this and 'exit' but it comes on every time I start the computer. When I hover over the icon it says "Windows Meesenger - Not Signed In"

    Stop Windows Messenger from running.



    [Start] [Run] [Regedit]

    Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Outlook Express

    Modify/Create the Value Name according to the Value Data listed below.

    Data Type: REG_DWORD [Dword Value] // Value Name: Hide Messenger

    Value Data: [2 = Messenger Will Not Load]

    Exit Registry and Reboot

    2. I was told once there is a charge for using it. ?

    I have never in my life used messenger, if I want to talk to someone, I call them on the phone, I still do not use facebook, :) :)
