I have an eMachines W3650 running Window XP Home Premium. I am trying to fix a major breakdown where the computer will repeatedly try to reboot itself. I have reformatted the hard drive and am trying to proceed through the Restore Procedure using the Restore CD that came with the computer. The Restore disk however has the words "Models T2341" NOT W3650 on it. Anyway, as I reboot to the CD, I get a message that says: CONFIRMATION OF RESTORE PROCEDURE. All data will be lost etc. Are you sure you would like to proceed. If YES, press Y, If no press N.

So I pres Y and letter Y appears then the cursor moves down one line and nothing else happens. I am stuck at this point. Waiting for a half hour does not help. Does this mean there is a hardware error? or a BIOS error? Any suggestions.

I am not highly skilled in computer repair. Would appreciate some help.

you do not have a reinstall disk, only a recovery disk, therefore you should not have wiped the drive as a recovery disk works through the os,

    http://www.manualslib.com/manual/409149/Emachines-W3650.html?page=98#manual

above is page 98 of your operators manual describing this procedure

the only option left is to find someone with a retail copy of xp home, and use it to reinstall xp, you would then activate it with the 25 letter product key on the side of the pc.

Microsoft does have a download for a floppy disk install of the os that is free, bot you also have to have 6 floppy disks and a floppy disk drive.

above is a download of hp home iso, that you would then have to burn to a cd

    https://www.google.com/#q=xp+home+downloads

above is the search page for xp downloads, any download is risky if not from microsoft
