notebook doesn't detect battery after reinstall

    I recently formatted and reinstalled windows XP sp 3 Korean version on samsung sens N145 plus notebook. After the reinstall it is acting like there is no battery, for example, it shows "On AC power" even when I am running it from battery. And it's not like it is not charging the battery either because if I leave it on the battery still holds for as long as it should; however there is no indication of remaining battery or the charge low notification. Going to power options does not show any any setting related to battery. It's as if there is no battery present at all as far as the OS is concerned. What could have caused this and how do I fix it?
