New XP Browser options

Today I came across an installable XP "kernel" upgrade "one-core-api-pack-x86.zip"

I installed it on a spare Dell D531 laptop (AMD Turion 64 X2 2GB ram) running XP32 SP3.
(it installed much like a service pack)

Next I downloaded Firefox 128.0 ESR.
I tried to install it, but it said it was for win10 only, so I dumped the contents of the exe into a folder on to the desktop
with 7zip and ran the internal exe

C:\Documents and Settings\user1\Desktop\Firefox Setup 128.10.0esr\core\firefox.exe

Firefox worked despite complaining about XPCOM and passed all the "Cloudfare" challenges.

Next I download the latest portable Palemoon browser and it also worked.

By my estimation the "one-core-api-pack" is an XP game changer.

That's interesting to say the least. Are you suggesting that Cloudflare problems are related to the OS, and not the browser being used? Because on my machine, I've had to use 360Chrome in the past to load some sites that MyPal would not.

Which browsers had you been using before installing the API, and were you able to load websites with those after the install?

I'm still using MyPal 68.14.5b. It's my main browser. I was thinking of trying New Moon though ? How would that compare to MyPal ? I'm only considering it because as great as MyPal is (and it is !), there are quite a few recent sites I am losing and wondered if New Moon might handle them better ? I would use both browsers parallel to each other. Chrome 360 was good but i kept losing every ad-on I installed on it, so I stopped using it. :-/

NewMoon is my default ''Everyday'' browser. It is updated regularly but it is a UXP browser and that container is becoming more and more obsolete. (I'm typing this on it now).

I use Supermium v126.0.6478.261 R7 for when I have to get past Bulls**t. I also keep MyPal 74 AND MyPal 68.14.8b for some sites like E-bay.

I get past CloudSh**t with Supermium. The One-Core has had positive feed back everywhere I look. I always get the updated copy but have never installed (yet).

Two things I picked up doing One-Core research:
1- One-Core after v 4.0 works with XP unofficial SP4
2- If using an XP 4GB RAM+ patch the One-Core PAE install MIGHT work for XP.

How is New Moon installed ? Like MyPal where you upload a zip file to a folder and it runs, or the usual install an exe file ?

It's a 7-z file. extract it in E.g. C:\Programs and you'll have it,C:\Programs\Palemoon. First time you open it it will create everything it needs. I update by 1) downloading new 7-z file 2) delete old "Palemoon" extract new Palemoom.

RoyTam1 just did a lot of work on the latest release. I'm using it now. Where it works it's great.

Created on first launch of "NewMoon"
Or am I mistaken?

Absolutely. Those scums are blocking based on OS. Thorium, Supermium, and 360chrome are all reporting Windows 10 by default in their user agent to get around that BS. https://whatmyuseragent.com/

A week or so on, and I've been testing the "PAE" version One-Core-API-Binaries on a more capable PC (Gigabyte H61M-S2PV, i5-3570 &16GB)
and now my XP SP3 now sees the full 16GB of ram and appears to use all 4 cpu cores evenly.

I can now run the portable version of Firefox 150.0.3 and the latest portable version of Palemoon (Palemoon-Portable-34.2.2.win32.exe), although I have to disable hardware acceleration when using some video hardware drivers such Inte-HD and Nvidia-HD with Palemoon.

I have also tried the "AVX" version One-Core-API-Binaries, but my motherboards on-board USB hardware is incompatible, which is a shame.
But who knows, maybe that may get fixed in the future.

For me, the long tall and short of it is that XP is running the browsers nice and fast, and I'm also able to use later windows software, like the latest EmBitz IDE.

XP has finally become the OS that it should have been. (I believe this is because the "One-Core-API-Binaries" are a product of the XP source code leak) "https://theopenxp.org/wiki/Welcome"

Firefox complaining about XPCOM....

This is due to Firefox updating. Starting from a fresh copy of Firefox, and with the internet disconnected.
Go into "preferences" and turn off auto updating. Then reconnect the internet.

Thanks for the update Tim. I've been tempted to try this myself, but after reading much of the information on the D/L page, I get the feeling a lot of my older software won't like it. Some of my software goes back to 1995, but the things I use most often (other than a browser) are from the early 2000's.

Do you have older software as well, and do you see any hiccups with those?

@ ImWolf...

Most of the software I use is circa 1990 - 2005

In a previous post, I gave a brief outline on how to create a multi booting system hard disk,
and that's what I always use, so if I need a different OS for a particular piece of software,
I just reboot to a more appropriate system. If I didn't use multiboot, I would physically use
a different hdd in a PC instead. The main thing is to never be committed to any particular OS.
Saying that, I do 99% of everything I do "PC wise" on one version or another of XP, configured
to resemble win 2000.

This post has just created on Palemoon (Palemoon-Portable-34.2.2.win32.exe) from a PC booted on "partition 2", which boots Win XP32 SP3 that has been updated to (one-core-api-pack-x86-pae.zip)(Canary 4-1-3) , However If I had booted on "partition 3" I would be in a plain Win XP32 SP3. Partition 4 boots to win 2000 SP4, and partition 1 currently has no OS installed.

Well to tell the truth, now I'm using the "one-core-api" much more intensively it's becoming obvious to me that everything in the garden is not all sweetness & light. I'm seeing all sorts of problems. That said, It's still another "major" string to my bow, and as much as I hate the Firefox 150 interface, it is very quick and stable. "Soo Far"

The New Moon browser I was familiar with came from here:

But this is really just Palemoon modified for XP then?

I went to your link. Have never seen before but last update is 2020.
RoyTam1 Is the NewMoon guy I know about and he keeps the updates he does current.
