New Design

Welcome to the new Windows XP Forum :). As mentioned a while back, we've upgraded to XenForo, a newer forum application which will allow us to continue running the site for a lot longer.

I hope you like the new design!

Unfortunately, the old avatars weren't able to be moved as part of the transfer process, so you may need to re-upload one if you'd like to have an avatar.

So now I cant have a signiture 'cause nobody likes me????
(must have one 'like' to have a signature???)

"You can not modify your signature

Signature Rules:

Before you can modify your signature, you must have passed the following conditions:

The number of posts you have created must exceed: 2 (Yours: 81)
The number of Likes you've received must exceed: 1 (Yours: 0)
The Like post Ratio must exceed: 0% (Yours: 0%)
The number of days you have been registered must exceed: 1 (Yours: 341)"

Have a nice life, , , , , ,

I've removed the signature "like" requirement, there were some restrictions in place to stop spammers. It should work ok for you now :).

Ian, cannot get to the last page in a thread, the go to last unread button is not working.

okay it is working, I just have to make sure I have the number for the last reply :)

I'll take a look at these bugs now :). The sidebar latest threads are cached for 300 seconds for performance issues, but I'll take a look at the homepage and see what I can find.

Just curious. In a nutshell, what were the limitations of the older forum software?

The old forum software was approaching 8 years old, and there were increasing problems rewriting code to make sure that we could run it on the latest versions of PHP (which is necessary to keep things secure). It was a case of jumping before we were pushed in many regards, but there are significant benefits to this software - especially on mobile devices :).

I confess, I quite like it, actually.

Very similar to the Tech Support Guy forum; I believe they use XenForo, too. Been getting used to it for nearly a year, now.

Only one snag with this set-up; no 'Back to top of page' button. Ah, well; you can't have everything.....

The Puppy Linux forum phpBB software dates back to 2005..!!!

Mike. ;)

I like the older forum software on a lot of sites. If you go to tapeheads.net, they use a forum software that I like, but it's starting to fade away now. (if any one know what that's called, it would be cool to know)

Isn't it funny that we upgrade the forum software, but XP is less able to view the new platforms on fewer supported browsers ...lol
