I bought new 2TB sata hard drive to replace broken one in machine with windows xp sp3. New drive does not work or works extremly slowly on that windows xp (freezes whole system mostly) (even when just attached as additional dive)
New drive works fine on other machines with windows 7.
New drive works fine on linux run from usb on problematic machine.
Other hard drives work fine on problematic machine (same sata port, same sata cable)
All available updates for windows xp are installed.
Why new hard drive won't work with windows xp? What can I do (except returning hard drive to seller or changing operating system)?

Besides it is a new hdd, check it's conditions using CrystalDiskInfo.Maybe try to reinstall chipset drivers for your mobo, also. And the drive is?
