Need to downgrade direct x 9 to 6

    Can anyone help me please. I bought an old comp off ebay and I need it to run direct x 6 but it has 9 on it. Its for might and magic 7. Any help I'd be more than grateful

    xp shipped with directx 8

    HERE is a search page to download directX 6

    you can install directX 6 and your game should give you the option to use either 9 or 6

    uninstalling direct x 9 could be problem prone as it is part of the system, but you can read through several pages at THIS search page

    You CANNOT downgrade DirectX on XP

    no but you should be able to install multiple direct x and choose which one to open with what ever program

    DirectX 9.0 is the latest for XP. And you can't install an older version of it because it doesn't work and DirectX9 on XP has compatibility mode with older directx games ;p

    okay, the original poster will have to look for an even older pc for his program, :)
