"My Pictures" screen saver no longer works

Hi! I'm using an Acer netbook running XP...its about four years old and works really well. I noticed a short while ago when my screen saver came on, it was no longer showing my photos. I have it on the "My Pictures" screen saver. It shows only a black screen with an explanation that there are no photos in the folder I have it set to. So, I redid the settings and it doesn't matter what folder I set it to, it says there are no photos in it. What happened? Can I fix it to work again? I don't know what may have changed.
The other preset screen savers work, just not "my pictures".

Thanks for any help you have to offer.
God Bless

did you look in My pictures, and are your photos still in there?

Have you installed any new programs?

have you run some scans?

please do the following and also tell me what your current is your current antivirus:
Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All (Ctrl-A), Copy (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.
You can edit out any personal information.

Download, install, update and do full scan with these free malware detection programs:

Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/

Remove all found, reboot, and run again until scans run clean, these can be removed afterwards if you so choose. Run scans one at a time, please.

above is ok if there are more than one user on your pc

use method 2 and do a clean boot, see if screensaver will run, if it does then a third party program is preventing, and you will have to disable one at a time to find out which is the guilty party.

Post back after the above troubleshooting steps, oh, and one more question, are you fully updated and patched at Microsoft updates?
