How can I modify the text in the text mode part of the Windows XP installer?

Why would you need to?
You'd probably need some kind of hex editor to be able to do this.

if you choose to do something for the fun of it, then make sure you have a good backup image.

the info on the page you describe has designated functions, why would you choose to change the functions??
