While wrongly thinking I could be a techie, I managed to crash my Compaq running XP Professional. I purchased an XP repair disk, but now I need to re-activate my install and I no longer have my COA or original installation disks as I purchased the computer in 1998. Does Microsoft have a way of finding my COA number as I registered the machine as soon as I booted it up? Do I have any other options? I really like this machine and operating system as it has truly become an "old pal" and performing flawlessly for me over the years. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this new boot authenticated. The box on the bottom of my screen says I have 30 days to authenticate it, but doesn't say what happens after those 30 days. Does anyone know what's next for me if I can't get the COA loaded> Diagnostic Report (1.9.0019.0): ----------------------------------------- WGA Data--> Validation Status: Not Activated Validation Code: 1 Cached Validation Code: N/A Windows Product Key: *****-*****-T6DFB-Y934T-YD4YT Windows Product Key Hash: 3g4CZGFEDgbKmn/oB4pa2FZsssU= Windows Product ID: 76487-OEM-2211906-00102 Windows Product ID Type: 2 Windows License Type: OEM SLP Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro ID: {4ED667D1-BF57-49BA-B216-6565E3B2F05C}(3) Is Admin: Yes TestCab: 0x0 WGA Version: Registered, 1.9.42.0 Signed By: Microsoft Product Name: N/A Architecture: N/A Build lab: N/A TTS Error: N/A Validation Diagnostic: 025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-258-3 Resolution Status: N/A WgaER Data--> ThreatID(s): N/A Version: N/A WGA Notifications Data--> Cached Result: 1 File Exists: Yes Version: 1.9.40.0 WgaTray.exe Signed By: Microsoft WgaLogon.dll Signed By: Microsoft OGA Notifications Data--> Cached Result: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 Version: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGAExec.exe Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGAAddin.dll Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 OGA Data--> Office Status: 109 N/A OGA Version: N/A, 0x80070002 Signed By: N/A, hr = 0x80070002 Office Diagnostics: 77F760FE-153-80070002_7E90FEE8-175-80070002_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-258-3 Browser Data--> Proxy settings: N/A User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Win32) Default Browser: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe Download signed ActiveX controls: Prompt Download unsigned ActiveX controls: Disabled Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins: Allowed Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe: Disabled Allow scripting of Internet Explorer Webbrowser control: Disabled Active scripting: Allowed Script ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting: Allowed File Scan Data--> Other data--> Office Details: <GenuineResults><MachineData><UGUID>{4ED667D1-BF57-49BA-B216-6565E3B2F05C}</UGUID><Version>1.9.0019.0</Version><OS>5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro</OS><Architecture>x32</Architecture><PKey>*****-*****-*****-*****-YD4YT</PKey><PID>76487-OEM-2211906-00102</PID><PIDType>2</PIDType><SID>S-1-5-21-1390067357-1844237615-527237240</SID><SYSTEM><Manufacturer>VIAP4X</Manufacturer><Model>AWRDACPI</Model></SYSTEM><BIOS><Manufacturer>Award Software International, Inc.</Manufacturer><Version>F3</Version><SMBIOSVersion major="2" minor="3"/><Date>20030922000000.000000+000</Date><SLPBIOS>Dell System,Dell Computer,Dell System,Dell System</SLPBIOS></BIOS><HWID>B7F638AF01842053</HWID><UserLCID>0409</UserLCID><SystemLCID>0409</SystemLCID><TimeZone>Eastern Standard Time(GMT-05:00)</TimeZone><iJoin>0</iJoin><SBID><stat>3</stat><msppid></msppid><name></name><model></model></SBID><OEM/><GANotification><File Name="WgaTray.exe" Version="1.9.40.0"/><File Name="WgaLogon.dll" Version="1.9.40.0"/></GANotification></MachineData><Software><Office><Result>109</Result><Products/><Applications/></Office></Software></GenuineResults> Licensing Data--> N/A Windows Activation Technologies--> N/A HWID Data--> N/A OEM Activation 1.0 Data--> BIOS string matches: yes Marker string from BIOS: 13B00:SYNNEX TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL CORP|13B00:SYNNEX TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL CORP|13B00:SYNNEX TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL CORP Marker string from OEMBIOS.DAT: Dell System,Dell Computer,Dell System,Dell System OEM Activation 2.0 Data--> N/A
above from HERE each OEM (ie. dell, HP, asus, etc...) repair/recovery disk is for the particular oem pc that it was originally installed on. you say you had a Hewlett packard the mga diag tool says the bios is for a dell. to install on various pc's you would need a retail disk and the coa would be on the box the cd came in, for the pc the coa is on the side of the tower and/or the bottom of the laptop. -------------------- http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f195/mgadiag-report-reading-684915.html above thread has info in interpreting the mga report https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=D7389B68B3A275AD!1057 above is my onedrive for sharing files, you can download the ,doc MGADiag it is nineteen pages on interpreting the diagnostic info. as for what happens after 30 days you can be locked out of the pc what is the make, model and model number of the pc?? what does the cd say exactly on the label??
