Living Cheaply - Better Do It Right>>>

Seen tons of videos how peeps can't make it even though they are making more than what I used to make 20 years ago... Many are living in cars to save up for an apartment, I don't see the sense in this as rent & utilities are just going to go UP, they never go DOWN...

The old phrase 'A penny saved is a penny earned' is the best MO... We live on less than 10 grand a year & yes we gotta budget but we do just fine... First our property we paid in cash & taxes are real cheap & since we are both over 65 we get tax credit so that more than covers it so we have NO taxes to pay thus no rent at all... We are in a very economically depressed area so they don't 'push' peeps around here... There's no building restrictions whatsoever... There's a cabin just 1,200 feet down the road That has had an outhouse right next to the road... Nobody cares... This is the kind of area you NEED to look at... We don't care about the others in the area we don't mix with them, too 'slope-ish'...

Wife handles the finances & I fix, hack or modify everything... Never is a 'professional' called up for anything... I fix the cars/trucks/weedeaters/chainsaws & much more as I HAVE TO even though at my age it's not fun anymore...

This is a problem with younger peeps, they don't wanna do hard labor... I have burned up an estimated 1,600 weedeater gas tanks since living here going on 21 years usually about 80 tanks a year... Was just out this morning but could only do 1 tank as yellowjackets were attacking... This is the other side of such living, the creatures...

A 15-20 miles down the road there's CCL land where they sell small lots one can buy for like 200 bucks a month... Boy they make it look good online but most chunks are difficult to get to even with 4WD, plus no water, electric makes quite miserable in short order plus peeps can't handle the insects & snakes... There was a couple that had a plot right off the road & I thought they were gonna make it but No... They actually split up & went there own ways after about a year... Others gravel up a driveway & put up a gate with no trespassing signs & that's commonly all you see... Lots are commonly 'given up' then resold to another 'dreamer' I am telling you it's the best legal scam there is...

So if you are willing to work 'for yourself' until you die you can live pretty cheaply... Nobody tells me what to do except for the upcoming weather & my pets... Be the 'Grinch' nobody wants to approach so other stay away, Don't live 'right on the road' on near a creek or waterway... Wife & I are elevated with steep driveway & trees are thick which also block microwaves...

They are going to make 'Van Lifers' lives more difficult so living in cars, RVs, vans is going to be made more 'illegal'... If peeps would just learn that 'traveling' on roads is a common law right it would greatly help... You don't need a 'driver's license' to 'travel'... A drivers license is only needed if you are engaged in commerce... Also you don't need a 'registered vehicle' you can travel around in anything with no plates, You remember Steve Jobs doing this? He knew about common law... There are no 'corporate laws' they are just 'policy' which is 15th century French derived for 'police'... Thus 'officer' a person of the office... there were tons of automobiles traveling around before driver's licenses were invoked, these rights are still present...

When I was younger I lived in a number of cities... I don't know how people do it anymore as i can't stand all these cars with the bright blue headlights, everytime one goes past I am blind for a second or two plus irritated as hell... Blue light is bad for humans & orange light (not orange presidents nor purple senators) is good for humans...

One thing that gets worse about country living is regulation... We got a 'regular' woodstove we bought in 2006 but some years later these were no longer legal you had to have special exhaust that 'burned-up' any extra material in the pipe before exit... YET, we have semi trucks belching out spent diesel fumes like crazy... Ever see those one's with injection pump issues or timing off? They belch out constantly...

We got a pellet stove in 2013 & it has been great as we can go to sleep when it would be cold enough to have to stay up stoking the woodstove all night but this past winter much hell with it... Had to replace the sensors & then the blowers all this stuff wear out when NOTHING in the woodstove wears out just have to pull the pipe out every year or two & wire brush out the creosote... Woodstove great when the power goes out & it's 15 degrees outside though...

Of course there's the processing of firewood which is one of the major tasks which are 'Wood, Water & Weedeating' Firewood is easy to visualize as well as Weedeating which is tedious as you cannot 'mow' our land, too much rocks & uneven ground... Water is another as I must hookup a long pipe down at the road to fill our cistern every week, takes 3-4 hours... Then down the road there's a spot I fill jugs for the dogs water, I too can drink that water & probably good to get used to it but for actual drinking water theres a spot @ 20 miles away that's 99.9% pure, best water ever...

One thing that works for you is that even elderly you stay in shape, hauling water, wood, etc you are 'country strong' & certainly don't need to waste money on a 'gym membership'... Last time I had one of those 26 years ago I got ill because ill people were there... I tell people instead of the gym just cut & split firewood & sell it you then can actually work out & MAKE money...

One thing about snakes... Moth balls do no good, we used them for years tossing under this-that just assuming they were working however 5=6 years ago the Wife was out so it was my job to open up the chickens, when walking back one of my cats alerted me to something under the motorcycle shed... It was TWO large timber rattlesnakes.. It took quite a few shots from a pellet rifle to sack them which I am never proud of but we cannot simply have venomous snakes lurking about... I take great pains to not kill off any snake that's non-venomous...

Here's the two timbers-

One actually COOL snake is the eastern hognose snake... It has vents on the side of it's head/neck & will expand this area making it appear like a cobra... We had a green-grey one around but also another that was orange-black who I called 'Agent Orange'... Well here a couple years ago agent orange wandered into the west portion of our back yard so I scared him off for his own safety as we have CATS... Later that day here he comes down from the bluff again!... So I gotta take him way out so I get a bucket to place him in, of course the cobra look is on as well as striking but I grab him up & put in bucket then he thrashes about for awhile then goes belly-up faking death with stinky crap being exuded out the back... So I take him way out in the woods & release... No movement watching but going back an hour later long gone... The humorous aspect is the snake probably thought the whole ploy worked out...

Here's a video on the hognose-

Lotta weird stuff comes outta the woods, had 3 cows come thru the woods & spend a night before leaving down the driveway... A Bull & a Female & their Calf... also about 10 years ago we had a Peacock hang around for a few days, it cleaned house on our lower peaches hanging down...

Got off on a tangent... what I have found that does work is used auto trans fluid, especially if it's burnt... Used engine oil is second, they don't wanna be around it at all...

Boy they lie about temperatures... Saying 88-89 degrees last 3 days it was 103.3 yesterday & before that 101.5 & before that 103.5 with a ton of humidity... Have to get out early just to do 2 tanks in the weedeater before sizzling LED sun pops out (no longer a warm yellow ball)...

Now up to 62.5 weedeater tanks this year, probably will be well over 80 this year...
