laptop recovery

    My compaq presario c300ea laptop xp service pack3 has disabled my AVG anti virus. It will not connect to AVG.com or any other security site e.g. Bit Defender. It has deleted all my restore points, it will not recognise my recovery discs and shows "uvpl.exe (0xc0000005) warning. It has been suggested that the problem is linked to the Ulead software I have. I have tried deleting this software but get a message saying a link is missing and it can't be deleted. Anybody got any ideas please
