While attempting to use an old HP laptop — running XP Pro Service Pack 3 — as a file storage of sorts on my LAN, I have discovered some networking issues.

The laptop can view and access every other computer's files that are shared on my LAN. Every other computer can see the laptop in the computer list on the network, but cannot access it, instead returning an error message. Has anyone else experienced this issue before, and if so, how can I fix it?

The Firewall settings seem to have File Sharing and Printers excepted in Control Panel, but when I check the advanced tab in the Firewall protocol it tells me that my Network Connection settings are corrupt. What does this mean and what is a potential solution?
