Is Windows xp embedded now freeware ?

Considering it is end of life, If I download eg from https://archive.org does it require activation ?

I have a small industrial PC salvaged from a kiosk machine, its just what I need for my CNC controller but the OS is too damaged to repair(I can get some drivers etc from the HDD )

cheers

activation is still required

Create the Activation Status

Navigate to system32 folder.

Copy the wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files

Reinstall XP in the normal manner

Restart the computer and use the F8 key to bring up the Advanced Boot Options

Select Minimal Safe Mode using Up and Down Arrow Keys and press Enter.

Navigate to system32 folder.

Rename the existing wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files.

Copy the previously backed up wpa.dbl and wpa.bak files to the system32 folder.

Reboot the computer.

good thread above, and it is correct, if you do not have the wpa files from your old installation, then phone activation is the only way to go but you STILL need a product key,

Hi folks, before i un earth my bed room computer area,
is this activation key "Always and with out fail" printed on the back of the computer tower/////////////oops???????????????????

Unless your computer is custom-built, there should probably be a sticker on the computer somewhere. None of my computers have the sticker on the back, though (two of them have it on the side and one has it on the top), and some don't have a sticker at all. If your computer doesn't have a sticker, you can install free software like Belarc Advisor to reveal your product key.

If you tell me what kind of computer you have, I may be able to make a guess on where the sticker is likely to be. For example, many Dells have it on the side.
