If you are using a compatible browser and have it properly configured for privacy/security, yes!

It depends on the browser. A browser like Opera 9-12 has different settings to tweak compared to something like Firefox 52ESR. In general the main tweaks I apply are to disable history/search bar suggestions and set it so that it does not save any passwords.

you might check out the security suggestions discussed in the above guide. The only one I did not use was to change cookie value as I like to save my logins as I have over 100 passwords and I cannot remember them all, all the time. :)

but I do not save any banking passwords!!

That's a comprehensive guide! I'm going to have to sit down and really review it thoroughly--there's a LOT of food for thought there.

it is never completely safe to bank or do anything on the net, thats why McAfee sold his security company, he could not promise safety.
any computer can get hacked, any bank can get hacked.
I read about a kid who hacked a 747 cock pit of the plane he was on
with his cell phone, as he sat in the coach class
    however
most times you will get by safely.

its only blind enthusiasm that will tell you other wise.

Very true. You are never completely safe doing online banking, no matter WHAT OS or browser you're using. I believe it is possible to have a modicum of safety if you know what you're doing and carefully optimize for privacy & security, but even then the hacking methods are so sophisticated nowadays that there's never any total assurance of safety.

Decades ago my parents could leave the door open at night without fear of criminals. It's been a long time since that was possible, & even though we live in one of the safest neighborhoods in South Florida we still take precautions throughout the day/at night to try &secure ourselves.

Believe or not. When i was 8 year old i accidently installed my pc backup and i never knew it was a BAD program.Remember my mom doing banking on that 7 pc and nothing happened. No hacked account, nothing everything was fine. And when i started learning more about computers then i uninstalled my pc backup.Since that 7 pc has XP installed but then the hdd died i got this pentium 4 pc and installed XP on it. AND here is me the 12 year kid that really cares about security lol.Since my mom really likes XP's GUI she did some banking on my XP pc and nothing happened.Using online banking on XP is not bad if you know what are you doing with your computer :)
After reading some posts here even doing online banking is not 1000000000000000000000000000000000% safe when using windows 10,8.1,7.So yeah

If someone is serious about using XP as their main OS, I would advise using the newest available version of a given browser if you want to do online banking, just to be on the safe side. Then again, if you know what you're doing and the sites you frequent are still compatible, even an older version will work.

MyPal is MORE than fine! In fact, it is the main modern browser I recommend for XP now, since SeaMonkey got its last update in July, Firefox 52 ESR will be getting no more updates, & all of the other modern browsing options rely on Chromium. K-Meleon is the only other modern browser I can recommend to XP users; although the last official release came out three years ago there are still 77.x test builds coming out on a fairly consistent basis. Pale Moon (which is to say, MyPal) does seem more stable in my experiences, but a newer K-Meleon build should be superb as a backup browser if needed.

K-Meleon 77 goes for me too, it's built on an older Goanna but it's probably going to run better on older processors and such

No doubt about it...if you're looking for modern browsing options, the latest MyPal (or any in the 28.x series) and a K-Meleon 77 build are probably your best bets on XP now.

back then min wage was worth about 26 bucks an hour,
honesty paid, and folks had mothers who were not freaked out of their minds
and were able to smother their kids with the smell of love hormones all day long.

in a healthy mind it hurts to hurt somebody else.

It was a different time. I am glad I was born when I was...when I look at what's going on these days, and what kids are being taught in schools now (it's crazier than when I was growing up), it's like I dodged a major bullet.

I keep a seperate credit card account for online purchases with never more than $400 in it. This is the limit of online banking I do. I have to go to the bank to add to the balance.

I had a 386 computer with dos 5, and it scared me what my 10 yr old son could do with it. I thought what the bad guys could do. Scared me even more, , , ,
