have you gone to microsoft updates and run a scan to see if there are any updates? if you have all your updates , then disable automatic updates. Mine is disabled always after getting all my updates installed

Did you get patch to counter Wannacry via auto update? I didn't. I had to Google to identify the designation of the patch, and search and download from MS! If some of us get a timely update, and others do not, when using auto update, it suggests another vulnerability awaiting someone coming along to exploit.

I think I read somewhere that the patch did not really work, so I have never installed it. I surf responsibly and run cleaner and scanners often, I disabled updates once I was fully updated to lessen used resources. :)

Obviously if you (re)installed or factory resetted the machine you will get updates that were releawed until 2014 april (if you are using the POSReady 2009 trick then it's understandable)

Sorry, it was quite a while back, and I did not keep any record.

I just put the question into search engine, something along the lines of "What is the patch needed to counter Wannacry"? I had to do it for Windows 7 also, though I do not recollect having to for W 10.

I just repeated same search, and found this page:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4023262/how-to-verify-that-ms17-010-is-installed

The page contains links for various OS's including XP. (3 varieties)

No idea if it is the same as what I downloaded back in 2017 though. Hope it provides what you want.
