HP Restore Plus! Error

I don't know if you have an idea how to fix this, but I was doing a factory reinstall on my HP Compaq DC7700, it was working but then it made an error sound, and if i close the "Software is being installed" screen that covers the installations, i can see an error that it can't find the NDPSP.exe file, I plugged the HDD into another PC and but a .NET 1.1 installer as "NDPSP" in the required folder, it loaded, but hang at the last thing. And closing the "software is being installed" screen causes the PC to shut down, how can I minimise it, Win + M doesn't work, and it forces itself over the task manager.

did you create your recovery disk properly ?

according to the above manual, hp restore plus cd is no longer shipped with the computer

you should just go to the above and download an xp iso, internet archive is a good place to go

I am fortunate in that I have never had to install on a hewlett packard, there was a patch needed at one time for hp to reinstall xp, do not know where the info can be found now as hp has pulled all win xp info from their website.

what it is above , fix solution below

you might have to extract your iso, insert the ndpsp.exe file in the proper place and then recreate the iso.

while searching for a ndpsp.exe file to download could not find one, so download the iso again if not from IA then from somewhere else, extract the file and pull the .exe file out and use it in your iso. this appears to be a problem with service pack 2, my iso is for service pack three so if you create an iso with service pack 3, your reinstall should go okay, I have not ever reinstalled just with service pack 2, :)

It's fine for now, I just installed regular Windows XP Professional.
