how to change volume of system sounds?

I want to decrease the volume of the system sounds without decreasing the volume All together. I copied my laptops(win 7) sounds[.wav] and put them on my desktop(XP) and i got the sounds the way i like them. but theyre kinda loud sometimes.

I wanna change the system sounds volumes because sometimes it can be a bit loud, i wanna change its volume so the system sounds are a little quieter, like what windows 7 did.

okay from what I can understand, is you have your .wav sounds from win 7

put them on the desktop for now in a folder

now from one of the other links in my last reply there was a way to adjust volume of INPUT sound, so adjust the volume of the sounds in the folder and THEN install them and save them as your own win7 sound theme in sounds.

?? sound feasible??

did you use the below tutorial to install the win7 sounds??

do not think it is possible with xp, but will keep searching.

The Device volume slider on the Volume tab is linked to the volume slider in the Volume Control dialog box. Changing the system volume on the Volume tab also changes it in Volume Control, and vice versa.
