So I ran lots of spyware ... everything is clean.

In desperation I even did a Ghost image restore back 60 days.

Anytime I turn on any version of automatic updates (automatically downloan and install, notify only, etc) the cpu is at 100% and it shows as svchost.exe

This just started to happen with Sept updates. I have scoured the net and others are having the same issue ... but no matter what I try it does not get fixed.

BTW the Windows Update icon does not show up in the try.

I did try turning off updates and installing them via Internet Explorer but the check never comes back.

    Help PLEASE.

    1. what is your current antivirus?

    2. you say you have run spyware, which ones?

    3. run the following:

Download, install, update and do full scan with these free malware detection programs:

    Malwarebytes (MBAM): http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Remove all found, reboot, and run again until scans run clean, this can be removed afterwards if you so choose.

    4. also do this:

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

    msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select All (Ctrl-A), Copy (Ctrl-C) and then paste (Ctrl-V) the information back here in your next reply.
You can edit out any personal information.

    5. once scans have run clean, check out the updates again is it still 100%?

post back with results and info requested.
